Microalbumin is one of the earliest signs of kidney damage. Detecting microalbumin early allows treatment to prevent further kidney damage. It is more sensitive than the routine urine protein test. The 24-hour collection gives a more accurate measurement compared to a random urine test. High microalbumin levels indicate that the kidneys are under stress or beginning to fail. see more

The Microalbumin Quantitative – 24 Hours Urine test measures the amount of albumin (a type of protein) excreted in your urine over a full 24-hour period. Normally, only a very small amount of albumin passes into the urine, but when the kidneys begin to get damaged—especially due to conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure—albumin levels start to rise. This test provides a highly accurate assessment of kidney function by tracking albumin loss throughout the entire day, rather than relying on a single urine sample. read more
